Public Art project update

Public Art project update

What has been happening?

Quiet Down There have been meeting people and exploring what artwork people would like to see in the open spaces and of Whitehouse and Fairfields. The artworks are planned to offer visual interest but also a function such as a seat, table, gathering space or wildlife habitat. Their visits and conversations are now completed, and they have written up the ideas, themes, and opportunities into a small report.

What did they discover?

Lucy and Emily from Quiet Down There had lots of engaging and creative discussions, they worked with young people at the schools and met with residents across the development. They discovered there are many common themes and aspirations for the community which are outlined in an article on this website.

What next?

The ideas, aspirations and themes will now inform an artist brief for a ‘furniture’ commission, they will explore what the artwork offers and where it goes based on the information in the report from Lucy and Emily.
