Milton Keynes Council is seeking an artist/creative practice for a collaborative project to develop furniture for the new areas of Fairfields and Whitehouse.

The intention is for the collaboration to deliver an exciting, innovative and engaging experience for the community and to leave them with a ‘furniture artwork’ that they can use and enjoy.

A Public Art Plan for Fairfields and Whitehouse was written by a creative practise called Dallas-Pierce-Quintero (DPQ). They undertook a wealth of research, visits and discussions and developed an overarching plan for the area.

The Plan sets out a vision for how public art can play an important role in helping to create a cohesive community and strong sense of place. The art commissions will capture aspects of local history, connect people with place and offer opportunities to get involved and take part.

The Plan is a starting point, artists and creative practices will be invited to respond to the plan but also explore new ideas and approaches following further engagement with the local community.

Community is central to the delivery of the Fairfields and Whitehouse Public Art Plan and we are looking to appoint an artist/creative practise to collaborate with DPQ, as they work towards the development and delivery of a furniture commission for the local area. The intention is for the collaboration to deliver an exciting, innovative and engaging experience for the community and to leave them with a ‘furniture artwork’ that they can use and enjoy.
